Dan Spollen plays a wide range of musical styles, including classical, jazz, rock, and blues. Dan also composes original music for solo guitar, band, and orchestra.


After lessons on piano and drums, Dan discovered guitar at the age of 11, learning the basics through self study. In 1988, he attended the summer performance program at Berklee College of Music, and subsequently enrolled at West Chester University, studying classical guitar, theory, composition, and performance. While attending West Chester, Dan continued private studies, most notably with jazz guitarist Pat Martino.


Dan began playing professionally in 1990, performing in a variety of ensembles throughout Philadelphia, the United States, and abroad. Notable events include performances for the Pennsylvania governor and Philadelphia mayor. Dan also spent time in Los Angeles, working as a session player, arranger, and composer.


2001- original composition, "The Truth Of Being", was released worldwide on Real Music records.


2008- collaborated with YES singer Jon Anderson, resulting in 2009’s “Survival & Other Stories” album.


2016- composed two pieces, "We Are Truth" and "Better By Far", for the Jon Anderson/Roine Stolt album "Invention Of Knowledge".


Besides performing, Dan teaches music, providing private and group lessons. Many of his students have continued on to university music programs and music careers of their own.


Today, Dan focuses on composition and recording at his home studio, and on performing original and arranged pieces for solo guitar.


Dan also freelances as a graphic designer and sketch artist, and has been commissioned for advertising campaigns, logo redesigns, and portrait artworks.
